Marshall Municipal Utilities (MMU) has been providing electric and water utility services to the City of Marshall for over 129 years. Marshall is a progressive community with a population of 13,680 people located approximately 30 miles East of the South Dakota border and 50 miles North of the Iowa border. MMU is the 2nd largest municipal utility in the state in terms of retail energy sales at over 517,000 MWhs sold in 2023. We serve over 6,800 customers and have a peak demand of over 80 Megawatts. MMU's water treatment plant, built in 1999, processed 882 million gallons of water in 2023 provided by 17 wells located in and around Marshall.
