Marshall Municipal Utilities (MMU) has been providing electric and water utility services to the City of Marshall for over 125 years. Marshall is a progressive community located in Southwest Minnesota approximately 30 miles east of the South Dakota border and 50 miles north of the Iowa border. Marshall has a population of 13,680 people. MMU is the 2nd largest municipal utility in the state in terms of retail energy sales at over 573,000 MWhs sold in 2018. MMU serves over 6,600 customers and has a peak demand of over 84 Megawatts. MMU's water treatment plant, built in 1999, processed 900 million gallons of water in 2018 provided by 17 wells located in and around Marshall.
