The Minnesota Cold Weather Rule is designed to protect customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bills during the winter season. MMU will not disconnect the utility service of a residential customer during the period between October 1 and April 30 if the customer meets the following criteria:

Minnesota Extreme Heat Law
The Minnesota Extreme Heat Law protects customers who are unable to pay their utility bill from being disconnected during an excessive heat watch, heat advisory, or excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service.
